The trees have thrown their clothes on the ground as if to defy the killing frost. No, it is not suicide. Just an acceptance and a leap of faith. The acceptance is for the inevitable winter that will scrub away the scars, wreckage and debris of seasons past. Tabula rasa. Clean slate. The faith is that spring will come again and that all who awaken clothe themselves in fresh fashions of their choice. It would never do to wear the worn-out wardrobes of yesteryears or the hand-me-downs of previous incarnations. Each renewal seeks to enhance what went before and get it right. Nature believes in second chance dances, but not second rate fates.
And so do I. I love the passion that brings to my life! Nothing can force me to compromise my dreams. The love and pursuit of perfection is how my life gets better and better. Doesn’t matter that I’m across the galaxy from perfection, because I’ll never get there anyway – no one ever does. That’s the wonderful thing about it. It’s unattainable! Don’t want to brag, but I’m an expert on rejection, a veteran of failure, and a deeply flawed character. (Man, is every day an opportunity for me or what?) Parsecs removed from perfection – yes – but that’s just what’s inside my skin. Doesn’t mean I can’t find perfection elsewhere in life, visit it, experience it. The hauntings of that you would not believe – so incredibly close to having the ultimate in life. But I can and do glimpse its luster, breathe its pure ether, hear its crystal silence, and feel its healing warmth in countless ways every day, every night. So can you. IF…you don’t give up. Do not let that word PERFECTION scare you. Be eclectic. Magic by any name – truth, romance, idealism – is everywhere. The right “everything” is already imprinted on your radar. Trust your instincts to recognize it – the right frequency for you, the energy to feed you, the imagination to inspire you. Let it put lighting in your blood and keep you young. Awaken to newness every dawn, whisper its secrets in pillow-talk every night, dream in its all-healing perfect embrace as you grow toward optimum.
A spectacular autumn is within kissing distance of winter here in Minnesota. Can’t thank you enough for all the feedback last month, especially to the Q&A answer I gave about marriage – you guys are amazing – and, yes, that is a black eye (water polo) I’m sporting in one of the photos. Forgot about that, and the pix is so grainy it was hard to tell.
Photos this month include 4 recent hiking shots from Crow-Hassan Main, 1 of Rice Lake, 2 previews-of-coming attractions from winters past, a shot of Doc Foto & fish (that’s Doc on the left), and two Blast from the Past photos showing why “So You Think You Can Dance” wouldn’t let yours truly and his brass baby trip the light fantastic. And there is one more photo…
May I solicit an opinion from you? Take a look at the book cover photo below before you read any further, and tell me what you think. Thumbs up, thumbs down? Would you be attracted to read this book? Drop me an email with your vote if you are so inclined.
Because guess what’s coming for Christmas? Be still my beating heart as I announce my first original novel in several years hitting the e-book market for the holidays! THE SHADOW SHOW is about so many things – a little girl’s trauma, an unredeemed father, a centuries-old Buddhist monastery in Nepal, and puppets/dolls/marionettes/icons/masks/images of every kind locked in a surreal psychological thriller. Should have the link for this low-priced, stocking-stuffer edition next month, or check on my web site and FB page.
This month’s column at SU http://storytellersunplugged.com/thomassullivan/2012/11/15/thomas-sullivan-neverneverland-the-shadow-show-a-bull-named-sleeping-pills/#respond extends last month’s Q&A. Most grateful for all the insightful responses for October! As expected, The Marriage Q&A went deep into the thoughts, experiences and opinions of many of you. That may be the second largest volume of response ever to a Q&A, and I’m slightly astonished that despite my glibness so many of you matched up your experiences with one aspect or another of what I wrote. Studies, statistics and personal experience can’t hope to convey the detailed familiarity and fine-tuning you provide. Thanks for sharing.
Don’t suppose this is going to be read by two people that I accidentally deleted from my mailing list, but I’ll mention it anyway in case they come across this in an archive. All by way of saying that I never drop anyone. So if you have trouble getting Sullygrams, please let me know at mn333mn@earthlink.net.
Laugh long, love pure, live large…
